Prehead the oven to 350°F. Line the baking sheet wtih foil or parchment paper. Using the mixer or hand whisk, combine butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and light. In a standing mixer, this will take about 5 minutes.
1 cup unsalted butter, ½ cup granulated sugar, 1 cup light brown sugar
Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat well. Then add the vanilla, mixing thoroughly.
2 large eggs, 2 tsp vanilla extract
In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture in parts, mixing in between each section. Once combined, fold in the chocolate chips.
3 cups all purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 2 cups chocolate chips
Using a spoon or measuring spoon, create balls of dough and place them about 2 inches apart on the bakign sheet. Roll the balls for an even size.
Bake one sheet at a time for 12-15 minutes until barely golden. When in doubt, air on the side of underbaked so you have nice gooey cookies. Let cookies cool for a few mintues before enjoying.
